Radio Christmas - Who We Are

Examiner_Article_7.1.09WHO IS BEHIND RADIO CHRISTMAS?

Radio Christmas began in 2008 based on a previous radio project called Christmas Cracker.

The charity behind Radio Christmas is STREET KIDS DIRECT and the charity guarantees that 100% of all its donations go DIRECTLY to the projects they are supporting in Latin America.  Both the charity and Radio Christmas was founded by Duncan Dyason, a youth worker, who has a passion for reaching children and young people on the margins of society.

MartinHEAD OF PROGRAMMING - Martin Hughes

Martin lives in a house! That might sound funny but there is a story behind this and maybe he will tell us one day ... well, maybe. He was first involved in Radio Christmas two years ago, when he presented the Morning Peak. This time round he is back as Head of Programming, along with being presenter of the weekday Late Show as well as Sunday Breakfast.

In his spare time, Martin enjoys racing around the UK to listen to gigs and even does the lighting for 'After The Fire'.  His favourite singer is Martyn Joseph although this is (allegedly) because he was the first singer he heard who was also called Martin, but spelt differently! (The quality of the songs and live performances may have something to do with it, too, though.)

Martin was previously Head of Programming for Greenbelt FM, the radio station of the Greenbelt Arts Festival and has also worked at Mercury FM in Herts, Premier Radio in London and BBC Radio 2.

HEAD OF TECHNICAL - Matthew Talks

Matthew is a music teacher, high-brow musician, music producer and volunteer youth worker.  Matthew lives in a posh house in Chesham Bois and enjoys sitting by his log fire watch Blackadder.

jackHEAD OF PR - Jack Gocher

He will be looking to receive texts from people at games around the region and also wants people in the studio listening to games on the radio to provide reports. Please contact Jack directly if you can help.
